Remind 101: Text Messaging for Teachers

Remind 101 is a great free website created to open a new line of communication with parents and students. Remind 101 allows you to send text message (or email) reminders directly to a group of people. These messages can be reminders about field trips, special events, etc. You could also use this service to send parents messages about delays and cancelations. This website does not sell phone numbers and won't send you spam or ads. All phone numbers are private and messages can not be replied to. It is also very easy to sign up and set up a class.

Starfall - Where Children Have Fun Learning to Read!

Starfall is another great literacy based website that is available. There are many different activities available that focus on phonemic awareness and phonics. They are perfect for the first grade classroom. Starfall also has many apps available for the iPad in the iTunes app store. Literactive - Teaching Children to Read

Literactive is a free website that has many wonderful games and activities that focus on early literacy skills. There are many different levels of activities that start at pre-reading all the way up to level 7. There are also charts at each level showing the activity name and skill focus for each level.
